"The Mystery" -- Finished Artwork of Portrait Demonstration 2017 at RSASA Gallery

This is my finished art based on the demonstration at RSASA ( Royal South Australian Society of Arts) gallery on Aug 20, 2017. The distinguished sitter for this demonstration session is Adelaide Lady Mayoress Genevieve Theseria - Haese. Initial work was a pencil sketch of head portrait. The finished artwork is completed with charcoal, pastel, pencil and pen.

Given the fact that the opal necklace has a story behind it, I renamed the title of my work as "The Mystery". Lady Mayoress actually didn't wear that precious opal necklace during the demonstration session. It was locked in the security box as it is still a broken one. And that's an interesting day since we had security guy out there throughout the demonstration. Also it's quite challenging as each artist has to incorporate the opal necklace into the artwork. If anyone is keen to learn more about the story behind this opal, you can check out this link : " Lady Mayoress opal returns to Adelaide after 30 years after secret Paris handover to Lord Mayor Martin Haese". Is this title great enough to inspire any author to write a detective story based on such news?

Anyway, this finished artwork, together with other artists' works based on demonstration for their respective sitters, will be displayed during the RSASA Members' Spring Exhibition "New Life" to be opened to the public on Sunday 3rd September (Father's Day). The official opening will be held on Sunday 10th September at 2pm by Professor Joanne Cys, Head of School of Arts, Architecture & Design Uni SA.

So welcome to our Spring Exhibition "New Life" to view the 44 final portrait artworks.
